Mr. Cherry is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana Tech of the University of Montana where he serves as a director on the University’s foundation. He also is a member of the board of directors of Highland Copper Company Inc. Mr. Cherry is married to Ann, his wife of 33 years, has four grown children, and enjoys golfing, fly fishing, hunting, skiing and other outdoor activities.

Mr. Cherry is the Chairman, President and CEO of PolyMet Mining Corp. Under his leadership, the NorthMet Copper-Nickel-Precious Metals Project in Northeastern Minnesota completed federal and state environmental review and received all the permits necessary to develop the mine and processing facilities, when the remaining litigation is complete.

In Mr. Cherry’s 34-year mining career, he has been instrumental in the development of major U.S. mining projects including more than 20 years at Rio Tinto where he served as General Manager responsible for permitting and the initial development of the Eagle nickel mine in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and as Vice President, responsible for strategic direction in environmental permitting and compliance, legal matters and external relations associated to mine development of the Resolution Copper project in Arizona.
