Mr. Pelpola directs and leads development activities aligned with Teck’s Sustainability and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals for scoping to feasibility level assets across the Americas. As Manager of Environment, Social, and Permitting for Copper Growth at Teck, Channa advises on sustainability and ESG risk and opportunity, and operational planning to seek alignment with community and government expectations and commitments and is a contributor to World Bank Group (IFC) publications on social management.
Channa graduated with an BSc (Honours) in Environmental Science from Carleton University, an MSc in Geomorphology from Simon Fraser University, and is a registered Professional Geoscientist. Channa is an active volunteer with the United Way and a local community water advisory committee. Channa recently married his partner of 11 years, Joshua Keyzer, and has three god-children ages 10, 12, and 19. Activities that contribute greatly to his life and wellbeing include mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, camping, studying geo-politics, and cooking.
