Application Information
All NewRange scholarships are awarded one-time. Students must be registered for at least 80% of a full course load as defined by the institution. Scholarship checks will be made out to the recipient’s post-secondary institution that is confirmed through the award acceptance process, but mailed to the student. Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current Minnesota high school senior enrolled in a Minnesota high school.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a post-secondary education or training.
- For Tribal scholarship only, applicant must be an enrolled member of a tribe sharing geography with Minnesota or first-generation descendant.
- Submit the STEM Scholarship, Trades Scholarship and/or Tribal Scholarship by the March 31, 2025 deadline.
Application Process
The application process is completely online and involves two parts: completing the applicant profile online and preparing and attaching a personal statement, which is to be in the form of a written essay or video.
Part 1 – Applicant Profile
In the online applicant profile form, you are asked to briefly describe:
- Relevant Education and Training: GPA, skill courses, advanced training, etc.
- Extracurricular Activities: Any awards, honors, or extracurricular activities in which you’ve been involved.
- Community Involvement: Involvement in volunteer work or other service to your community.
- Financial Need: Demonstrated financial need may be considered as a factor in the selection process.
Part 2 – Personal Statement
To complete the application, you must attach a personal statement in the form of an essay (limit 800 words) or video (limit 5 minutes) in which you briefly provide answers to the following questions:
- What are your career interests and goals?
- What initially sparked your interest in this field, and what motivates you to pursue a career or course of study in this area?
- How has your involvement in extracurricular activities and community service shaped you as a person?
- What sets you apart from other applicants?
Application Deadline
The application period is November 20, 2024, to March 31, 2025. No applications will be accepted after March 31, 2025.
