Description
Reporting to the NewRange General Manager and working closely with the External Affairs Director and Tribal Liaison, the Manager of Community and Social Performance will be based in Northern Minnesota and is responsible for social performance management activities carried out by a multi-disciplinary consulting and project team, supporting social baseline data collection and analysis, social risk and opportunity identification and management, social investment, supporting local hiring and procurement, and leading community of interest (COI) engagement in support of all activities related to NewRange.

The Community and Social Performance Manager will play a key role in internal alignment on social risk management, in representing NewRange in Minnesota, and building positive relationships aligned with our values. The successful candidate will work out of the NewRange office in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota.
Leadership & Safety
- Act as a safety leader, leading by example, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Champion NewRange’s values in all community engagement efforts.
Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, government agencies, and NGOs.
- Facilitate ongoing dialogue to address concerns, share updates, and foster trust.
- Lead consultations to align community aspirations with organizational objectives.
- Develop and implement community engagement and social performance policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align community engagement goals with broader business objectives and to address community-related concerns.
- Lead awareness campaigns to inform stakeholders about the organization’s activities and community commitments.
- Develop and implement a feedback system to address community grievances and resolve conflicts effectively.
Social Performance & Risk Management
- Lead social risk assessments, support social impact assessments (SIA), and develop strategies to address risks and opportunities.
- Monitor and report on social performance metrics, ensuring transparency with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with department leads to develop and implement mitigation measures that minimize adverse project impacts on local communities.
- Ensure compliance with social, ethical, and legal standards.
- Craft long-term strategies to integrate social performance into the organization’s operations.
Social Investment & Capacity Building
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for social investments that align with community aspirations and business objectives.
- Design and manage social responsibility programs tailored to community needs, measuring effectiveness through key performance indicators.
- Develop partnerships with local organizations, NGOs, and government bodies to maximize the impact of social investments.
- Monitor and report on the outcomes, long-term impacts, and value creation of social investment initiatives.
- Support local capacity-building and skill-development programs to drive long-term community benefits.
Budget & Resource Management
- Oversee budgets for community engagement initiatives and social investments, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in social studies, sociology, environmental studies, anthropology, public relations, business, marketing, or other relevant field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant managerial experience.
- Understanding and experience implementing key international principles and standards that may be applicable, such as IFC Performance Standards.
- Demonstrated experience in leading consultations and engagement with various stakeholders.
- Understanding of key national and regional issues that affect the mining industry, and of current and developing processes in community engagement.
- Demonstrated success in building constructive working relationships with various local, regional and national COIs in relation to developing natural resource projects.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Excellent project management skills with experience in managing projects and consulting teams.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Experience with implementation of social management systems is highly beneficial.

Salary Description
$128,800 – $161,000
